eBird Hotspot Ranking

Using data from Cornell Lab of Ornithology's eBird, I am developing a method of ranking designated birding hotspots based off of the average number of species per checklist at a specific location. This metric is a better indicator of a "good" hotspot than total unique species (because a location may be under-birded) or total checklists (because a location may be over-birded). 

Nocturnal Flight Calls

This coming spring migration, I plan on recording Nocturnal Flight Calls. Nightly spectrograms will provide counts of which birds are migrating when which helps quantify species' migration windows.
